I grew up and went to school in small-town Iowa.
When I introduce myself at networking groups or meetings, I say, “I’m Jim Perkins, your simple country lawyer.” I bring my simple country values – honesty, hard, effective and efficient work, a fair exchange of value – to my law practice. These country values are the guiding principle of my way of doing business. Simple, Honest, Effective and Fair.
I make the Law, as it applies to you — and to your stuff (assets) and to your loved ones (spouses, children, other heirs) — understandable, practical and manageable. The number one complaint that I hear about other lawyers and law firms is that they make everything seem very complicated and confusing. And the details can be very complicated and confusing to people not trained in the law. I take the time to understand what matters to you and explain that part to you carefully and in detail. What doesn’t matter to you may still matter and I will address those issues competently. We will spend more time, attention and energy on the issues to matter most to you.
